Volunteerism

Our Involvement

The African Traits team is genuinely committed to making the world a better place for everyone one act of kindness at a time. We truly want to make a difference in the lives of those around us especially in Tanzania’s most vulnerable populace – its widows and orphans.

Even though we are only one company in a large country, we believe that every day we can have an impact in our world one kind act at a time. Through our own initiatives as well as partnering with other local organizations, we are:

Preserving the local environment

Giving back to our communities

Promoting responsible tourism and volunteerism

Partnering with local orphanages

Putting on women's seminars.

Sponsoring children's education

Providing medicine and food to those in need

Participating in educational programs

Want to make a difference?

We invite you to join us in experiencing the satisfaction which comes from volunteering and we encourage you to consider adding a volunteer component to your African adventures. You’ll leave not only having enjoyed the many sights and wonders of Africa, but also with a sense of accomplishment having taken time to connect with the local people and culture.

If you are interested in adding a volunteer component to your African adventures, please let us know. We will provide you with an opportunity to use your skill to for a needed service project, share your knowledge or expertise to teach another, or provide materials and supplies to ease another’s burdens.

Volunteer Opportunities

To give you the best opportunity to leave a positive and lasting effect in our communities, we have partnered with the following two organizations both of which offer different types of volunteer activities.
“Neema House Inc”, now also known as Neema Village, is a 501(c)3 registered non-profit in the USA and a registered NGO in Tanzania. Neema in Swahili means Grace and any good done has been done by the Abundant Grace of God!

Neema Village began as “Neema House” in 2012 as a rescue center for abandoned, orphaned and at risk babies in Arusha, Tanzania, East Africa. During that time, more than one hundred eighty-five babies have been rescued, many abandoned babies have now been adopted and others who had lost their mothers during the birth were saved and have now been able to return home to an extended family member. We love the idea of “Families not Orphanages.” For more information click HERE...

The Small Things integrates high-quality, loving, community-based residential care with a comprehensive family preservation program. That means keeping children in homes where they belong, caring for them when their families can’t and helping reunite them with relatives after leaving our care.

The Small Things strives to keep vulnerable and orphaned children in the Meru District of Tanzania in their families by creating sustainable, participatory and evolving care plans for their future. For those families most at-risk, we provide loving residential care in an effort to further strengthen the community’s long-term capacity.
